Dr. Marvin G. Baker, creator of the Tweener Time International Creativity Competitions, resigned  as president of Tweener Ministries at the annual board meeting in September.
This was six weeks before his 84th birthday.
Age and family health problems precluded his further involvement in this ministry. Without his leadership, the Board voted to dissolve the corporation near the end of the year.

If you are a winner waiting to be published, we will contact you with information.  The 2008 winning books will be published on a delayed schedule because of this interruption.

This spring, I informed the Board that I would be relinquishing leadership of Tweener Ministries at the annual Board meeting in September. God knew what the future held. Since January, 2007, Paul Trittin and I have attended scores of conferences from Colorado to Pennsylvania and New York to Florida, to encourage teens to write for tweens.

More than 100 judges made it possible to select winners from among those high schoolers who entered from 37 states and 17 foreign countries. Bethel College, Anderson University, and Grace College offered scholarships to the winners. The Gaither Charitable Foundation gave a cash award to the first place winner, and Joshua Expedition provided an international tour to the teacher of the first place author.

Early this summer, Paul's health began to make the traveling more difficult. Finally with chest pains, one blocked artery, diabetes, and bladder problems a change was required. Paul is one of the millions who is ineligible for insurance because of pre-existing conditions. I knew we had to relocate to be near my daughter for at 84 years I wanted help in making the transition Paul and I were facing. That change will be completed by Thanksgiving.

Paul and I' are not really retiring, We're just changing occupations - unsure of what the next one will be. You can be sure we will continue to promote literacy and creativity some way.

To those who have been a part of this journey, "Thanks for the memories!" It has been a rich spiritual experience and a blessing to hundreds. I look forward to reading the books, viewing the cover art, and listening to the music by the teens and tweens we have met during these exciting months.
